Behind the Scenes of My Music Video: Finding Flexibility, Expression, and Growth
There was so much anxiety leading up to shooting this music video. I had big expectations for how everything would turn out, and while some moments were fun and exciting, others were frustrating. The fog machine turned out to be an epic fail, and some of the people I hoped would show up didn’t make it. In the middle of all those mental hurdles, I had to push myself to stay composed and grounded.
What I learned is that flexibility is everything. The outside scene I had planned didn’t work out, but with my team’s support we pivoted and still made it happen. For that, I’m so grateful to my videographers, Eric Brionez and Peter Bravato, for always showing up and being amazing at their craft. And a huge thank you to my friend Jaz for being there and contributing to the vision—it made a big difference.
Even with the challenges, there were so many beautiful moments. I got to play with different outfits, make use of the unique spaces we had (yes, even the tub!), and bring my creative vision to life. Most importantly, this project allowed me to step into a new chapter of my life. I wanted this video to be an authentic embrace of my sexuality—with bold outfits and LGBTQ banners woven into the visuals.
I’m still on the journey of self-expression and identity, but this video is more than just a visual to me. It’s about advocating for those who don’t always feel seen. My hope is that when people watch it, they feel welcomed in their own sexuality and reminded that their truth deserves to be celebrated.
